A woman has shared her passion for capturing pet likeness through 3D embroidery – but social media users can’t decide if it’s creepy or cool.

Sunghee Park, 40, creates her bizarre animal pieces using nothing but a thread and needle, and embroidering her patterns onto fabric.

The artist recently went viral after a meme page shared one of her designs – a dog that appears so lifelike, that you can reach out to stroke its fur.

The post has over 60,000 likes from mesmerised users.

“Most people find my work surprising and interesting,” said Sunghee, who lives in Seoul, South Korea, with her husband.

“But sometimes there are people who are scared of being realistic.

“But this is a compliment, right?”

The price of the designs varies depending on what size a client requests but could be anywhere from £200-£450.

Sunghee said: “So, my work is characterized by being as soft and strong as real animal fur.

“[It is] all stitched one-by-one using different colours of embroidery thread on the fabric.

“Then, the planted embroidery thread is unwound with a sharp tool and cut again to create a work of art.

“All of my [handmade] works are made at the request of people who want to remember their pets.

“When I talk about a work, I always try to introduce the main character of the work, but I talk about how old the main character is, what kind of food he likes, and what hobbies the main characters have.”

“And if there are people who are having a hard time with pet loss after watching my work, I hope [they] can be comforted.”

Sunghee, an animal lover herself, recently participated in an exhibition about abandoned animals, with donations given to organisations that look after stray animals.

While many people take comfort from her work, it has seen a divided response online with some users finding the art to be a little too realistic.

“That’s creepy,” said one person.

“It's not cool to cut off the puppy's head,” joked someone else.

“Ngl [not gonna lie]... that was creepy for a second,” added another person. [sic]

Someone else said: “That’s scary actually.”

“Plot twist, he beheaded animals and displayed them like a trophy,” joked another person.

Someone else said: “Horror, they look like the head of deers in the cottages.”

“Creepy!,” another person added.

Others were eager to get their hands on one of the pieces.

One person said: “Wth [what the hell] cool.” [sic]

“Omggg how to get this detailed??,” said someone else. [sic]

Another person added: "Does anyone know where I can get something similar?”
