STORYLINE:

In response to Hezbollah's call for a "day of rage" to condemn an attack on a Gaza Strip hospital, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the U.S. embassy in protest.

Following Hezbollah's call, demonstrators scuffled with Lebanese security forces outside the U.S. embassy in the suburb of Awkar, where protesters hurled stones and set a building on fire.

Security forces fired several rounds of tear gas to disperse protesters.

Protesters were chanting slogans against Israel and America, and many of them covering their faces with the traditional Palestinian kaffiyeh.

The demonstration turned violent and a gallery next to the U.S. embassy was set on fire.
