Hurricane Otis ravages Acapulco: hotel devastated by category 5 storm

On October 24, 2023, Acapulco, Mexico, bore the destructive brunt of Hurricane Otis, a powerful category five storm with wind speeds reaching a staggering 270 km/h (165 mph). Photographer @davidvaz73 captured a grim aftermath in a video, focusing on a hotel that had suffered severe damage. The footage revealed a pool filled with debris and murky water, alongside a building with extensive structural harm. Guardrails were torn off in various sections, and debris littered the corridors. Hurricane Otis, which had already claimed at least 27 lives, also left a trail of devastation, shattering windows, uprooting trees, and severely disrupting communication and transportation links in the region. High-rise towers bore gaping holes in their walls, and vehicles were overturned by the furious storm.
