A home baker suffered a hilarious Halloween fail when her witch finger cookies turned out horribly wrong.

Mariel Afanes had made the last-minute treats to give to her neighbours for a Halloween party in Taguig City, the Philippines, tonight.

She decided to whip up a quick batch of sinister-looking witch-finger butter cookies topped with almond slices.

However, the baked goods did not go to plan when they expanded in the oven, and came out like grotesque, bloated troll fingers instead.

Mariel, who runs a bakeshop out of her home, said: 'I thought the cookies needed something to look more horrific, that's why I decided to get some cocoa water and brushed it on each finger.

'It was time-consuming and it made my piped cookies kind of melt. I guessed that's the reason why they also expanded during baking.'
