A hiker filming the view captured the moment a fellow nature lover escaped serious injury when she slipped near the top of a 17,000-ft mountain and slid helplessly down the snowy slope.

Nail-biting footage shows the woman, joined by a group of climbers, nearly reaching the top of Haba Snow Mountain, in Yunnan Province, south-western China, on November 11.

But as she attempted to keep pushing forwards along the steep mountainside, she apparently lost her footing and came tumbling down.

Another member of the group, surnamed Xie, who had stopped to film the view accidentally caught her on camera as she slid and rolled down the snow-covered slope while others helplessly looked on.

The woman lost her hat and threw off her gloves in an apparent bid to grab onto something as she practically flew down for dozens of feet.

Xie later said that the woman did not suffer any serious injuries. He added that she was lucky to be blocked by the protruding snow, and a guide later assisted her down. Haba Snow Mountain rises 5,396 metres (17,700 feet) above the sea level, and is one of the tallest peaks in Yunnan Province.

It is covered by snow all year round and is considered to be relatively easy to ascend by most amateur climbers.
