STORYLINE:

Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets on Friday to show support for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli attacks on the coastal enclave.

Demonstrations took place in the cities of Amman, Karak, Aqaba, Ma'an, Tafilah, and Zarqa, during which participants demanded an end to the Israeli attacks that have been going on for over a month, the state-run Al Mamlaka TV reported.

They also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, applauding their resilience and resistance.

In the capital Amman, the demonstration started from the Al-Husseini Mosque after Friday prayer. Demonstrators waved flags of Jordan and Palestine and carried banners denouncing Israel. They also chanted slogans in support of the Gazans. Demonstrations were also staged at the Kalouti Mosque near the Israeli embassy.

The latest round of conflict started on Oct. 7 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and took more than 200 people as hostages. In response, Israel launched an all-out offensive in Gaza that has killed more than 12,000 Palestinians.
