This is the heartbreaking moment a frantic mother horse chased a lorry carrying her baby foal that was being taken away to be sold.

The mare, a Mongolian breed, followed the lorry for miles across a dirt road near Xilingol in Inner Mongolia, China, on November 14. Her owner said she heard the foal cry as it was being loaded on the back of the vehicle and ran after it.

Heart-breaking footage shows her and another horse following after the lorry in the snow. They eventually relented and the owner was able to take the foal away to be sold at auction.

The Mongolian horse, native to Mongolia, is a hardy and resilient breed known for its endurance, adaptability, and strong spirit. They have evolved over centuries to withstand the harsh Mongolian climate and challenging terrains.

They are small in stature, standing around 48 to 56 inches high, with a stocky build, strong hooves, and a thick, weather-resistant coat.
