STANDUP (English): ADRIAN BERZENJI, Canadian expat living in China's Zhongshan
"Hello. I'm Adrian, and today I am surrounded by many beautiful flowers because I have come to the Xijiang Huazhou Park in the town of Henglan, Zhongshan.

From Nov. 16 to 30, the 2023 China (Zhongshan) Flower and (Tree) Trade Exhibition will be happening in this beautiful venue.

This vibrant venue with its beautiful bloom, has really attracted my attention. Is there anything exciting happening today? Let's go check it out together.

Henglan is known as the hometown of Chinese flowers and trees. It's also the largest trading market of green seedlings in southern China.

As the heart of Zhongshan's flower and tree industry, it has over 30,000 mu of flower and tree bases. That's about 4,942 acres. It's huge.

Every year, the amount of sales from Henglan to various places in China and other southeastern Asian countries exceeds 5 billion yuan (about 700 million U.S. dollars).

During the fair, the investment promotion conference for the flowers and trees industry and the promotion marketing matchmaking meetings will be held.

It aims to create high-level communication and a trading platform for the national flower and tree industry, to promote industry integration, and to enhance investment opportunities and promotion.

This area is a national exhibition of new and excellent flowers and new high-quality tree products.

So in this area, you can see flowers and trees from all of these different regions across China and the sellers bring their latest and greatest seedlings and flower products to market.

In southern China, bougainvillea blooms in autumn and winter and you can see bougainvillea in full bloom everywhere. In late autumn, the pink flowers color the Xijiang River, and what surprised me is that in Henglan, they house the most complete variety in all of south China.

Today, there are over 130 different types of bougainvilleas on display. The bougainvilleas have a vibrant color, and the staff has told me that they are a compact flower with concentrated flowering periods, which makes them very suitable for display and shaping.

What I really like, though, are their names. They've got names such as the California Gold, the Blonde Bombshell, Snow White, or the Indian Picture.

Whatever their names are, they are beautiful, with full, rich, vibrant colors.

After 20 years of upgrading, transformation, and development, Henglan is no longer the remote, impoverished area it used to be.

But it's not just Henglan. Other towns, too, like Guzhen and Xiaolan, which are known for their flowers and seedlings, have combined to promote the development of the flower and tree industry here in Zhongshan.

So we welcome you to come down to the China (Zhongshan) Flower and (Tree) Trade Exhibition.

Come and experience the tranquility, peace, and beauty that can only be experienced by thousands of acres of beautiful, blooming fields of flowers."
