A Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held in Athens on Thursday, kicking off the festive season celebration events.
Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis gave the signal for the illumination of a 17-meter natural tree which stands on Syntagma Square in front of the Greek parliament with 24,000 LED lights.
