A woman has shared her genius hack for giving even the filthiest of ovens a deep clean – using a common household product.

Nicole Murphy, 34, from Ireland, came up with the idea to clean her oven using dishwasher tablets and saw fantastic results.

As well as placing one in the oven, she also cut a hole in a sponge, where the tablet dissolved as she scrubbed.

Sharing a video of this on TikTok (@nicolepaigelilly), the savvy cleaning buff quickly gained over 10,000 views from impressed followers.

“This is very effective and low cost compared to specific oven cleaning kits or professional oven cleaning,” Nicole told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“It removes all thick build-up of dirt.

“It is essential to remove the oven door glass and wipe it clean after with a towel/paper towel and water to remove any chemical substance.

“It takes around 30 to 45 minutes the first time, and less than 30 minutes each additional time after."

In the clip, she can be seen placing a dishwasher tablet in the centre of the oven before removing the glass oven door, advising her followers “to be careful because the glass is what’s weighing down the oven door”.

Nicole then cut a hole in a sponge, placed a dishwasher tablet inside, then scrubbed the oven until it was clean.
