Rescuers looked for survivors in the rubble of buildings in Gaza hit by Israeli air strikes on Friday 1 December.

The strikes resumed after the truce between Hamas and Israel, with the latter blaming the former for not releasing all the women and children in its custody and for launching rockets at Israel.

Hamas, in turn, blamed Israel.

Local health officials (formally under the local Hamas-run government) said 32 people died in the first three hours since the war restarted.

The death toll of Palestinians killed by shelling carried out Friday by the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip after Israeli authorities accused the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) of violating the truce in force since Nov. 24 shortly before it expired in the absence of an agreement for its extension has risen to more than 30, according to authorities in the enclave.

"The number of victims of the Israeli occupation massacres three hours after the end of the truce has reached 32 dead and dozens wounded of varying degrees, most of them children and women," said the spokesman for the Gazan Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qidra, according to a message posted by the ministry on its Facebook social network account. He also stressed that "the temporary truce has not helped the health system" in the enclave, which has been badly damaged by the offensive launched by Israel following the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7.
