STORYLINE:
The awarding ceremony of Seeds for the Future 2023, a program founded by Chinese tech giant Huawei, was held in Algeria's capital city of Algiers on Saturday night.
Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Li Jian, Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelhakim Bentellis, General Manager of Huawei Algeria Yi Xiang, and student representatives from Algerian universities attended the event.
Awards were presented to the winning teams of the "Seeds for the Future" program.
Huawei Algeria also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Algiers 1 University at the event.
Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" 2023 training camp was held earlier this year in Annaba, a city in eastern Algeria, where students learned about 5G, artificial intelligence, and big data.
Huawei launched the "Seeds for the Future" program in 2008, to help countries cultivate ICT talent, raise awareness and interest in the telecom industry, and encourage them to participate in building digital communities.
The program has covered 139 countries and regions around the world.
