More than 45,000 folk dancers performed on the streets for the 226th anniversary of Khon Kaen province in northeast Thailand.

Crowds of locals swayed along to traditional 'Mor lam' style music as they took part in the numerous blessing ceremonies done simultaneously in the province on November 29.

Khon Kaen Governor Kraisorn Kongchalad headed one such ceremony at the Phra That Kham Kaen temple, and another at the Phra Nakhon Si Borirak Monument in the evening.

The blessings were held before several trade fairs, including the Khon Kaen International Silk Festival, Phook Sieo ceremony, Khon Kaen Red Cross Fair, and Khon Kaen Soft Power Fair.

The rites were done to pay homage to the '10 sacred beings of Khon Kaen'.

The fairs will run from November 29 to December 10 in front of the Khon Kaen Provincial Hall.
