Many heads of international media outlets have applauded the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative's significant role in propelling development and economic growth in their countries at the ongoing World Media Summit.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ENAYETULLAH KHAN, Group President & CEO of Cosmos Group, Bangladesh
"I basically think that it (BRI) is an economic effort to build the countries. You know, China wants to help other countries to build. And it's a great initiative in Bangladesh. We have done a few major infrastructure projects under the BRI. And I'm all supportive of this BRI. I think it's a great initiative."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): WATCHARIN SETAKUDAN, Editor-in-Chief, Thai News Agency, MCOT Plc.
"The BRI will enhance the regional cooperation and also it will be like a deep soil that can fulfill Thailand's ambition to develop the cooperation with the other countries in innovation, not only in the Southeast Asia, but also with China and other countries on the route of the BRI. And also it will improve our economy, development and strategy development."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): WONG CHUN WAI, Chairman of Malaysian national news agency Bernama
"In Malaysia, the most important project under the Belt and Road Initiative is called East Coast Rail Link (ECRL). It will connect Kuala Lumpur to the east coast, the other side of Malaysia. And it will bring a lot of benefits for Malaysia, because it would cut a lot of traveling hours. It's both a passenger and a cargo train. It'll be one of the examples of how the Belt and Road Initiative has succeeded in Malaysia."
