STORYLINE:

Kunming in China's Yunnan Province is dubbed a "city of eternal spring" for its pleasant climate throughout the year.

On the sidelines of 5th World Media Summit, attendees from various countries had a tour in the city.

At a smart manufacturing workshop of Yunnan Baiyao Group, the guests visited a fully-automated toothpaste production line.

Yunnan Baiyao is a time-honored brand famous for producing baiyao, a white powder used to stop bleeding and relieve pain. The company is also a leading toothpaste seller in China.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"How do you feel about the production line?"

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): NAJUM IQBAL, Head of Communications with the Regional Delegation for East Asia of the International Committee of the Red Cross
"This is impressive. The machines are doing a fantastic job. There's less and less intervention of people."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): TEH TSUI LING, Malaysian National News Agency
"Very eye-opening because the production is all by machine and not human. It's something new for us."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"Do you like Chinese medicine? Will you use it?"

SOUNDBITE 5 (English): TEH TSUI LING, Malaysian National News Agency
"Yes. We are using that home. Sometimes I also use the Chinese herbs to boil and drink for cough and also for sore throat. It's very good. I will buy a lot back to give as a Christmas gift."

SOUNDBITE 6 (English): WING PING ALICE HANG, Editor-in-Chief at Oceania Tv ltd
"It's very interesting because I've never come across Chinese medicine before. I think it works differently and helps you to recuperate. The advantage is it doesn't have the side effects."

STANDUP 1 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"Now we're at the Kunming Dounan Flower Market, and it's the largest (fresh-cut) flower trading market in Asia."

Floral beauty from this market reaches more than 40 countries and regions, with the export value hitting 520 million yuan (about 71.7 million U.S. dollars) in 2021, ranking first nationwide.

This auction trading center is not for arts nor antiques, but actually auctioning for flowers. The Kunming International Flora Auction Trading Center (KIFA) stands as one of China's oldest and largest flower auction and trading hubs.

STANDUP 2 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"Look at how big it is. The workers are busy transporting those already treated flowers to different destinations."

SOUNDBITE 7 (Chinese): ZHU QI, Kunming International Flora Auction Trading Center
"Every day, more than 5 million fresh-cut flowers are delivered across the country from this market, and to more than 40 countries and regions around the world. We have signed a third-party protection agreement with companies from more than 40 countries, so many of the latest new products from Europe and other parts of the world can reach the Chinese market or the Asian market through the flower auction center."

SOUNDBITE 8 (English): CHUN WAI WONG, Malaysian National News Agency Chairman
"It was quite interesting for me to see how the auction was done using the electronics online. We have not seen anything like it before. And then I saw the logistics hub of the transportation of the flowers. It was again amazing. And then also the retail part. The flowers are really cheap."

SOUNDBITE 9 (English): SHERZOD ISAEV, Uzbekistan National News Agency - UzA Translator
"Kunming City is very beautiful like spring."

SOUNDBITE 10 (English): GIANMARCO VOLPE, Global desk chief of Agenzia Nova, Italy
"China is trying to put together technology and tradition, modernity and cultural heritage. It is very important to live in harmony, especially the nature here is fantastic. But the first thing for me is the warm welcome that I received here. It made me feel home."
