China's homegrown passenger aircraft C919 flew over the scenic Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong on Saturday, giving residents on the waterfront a glimpse of the new aircraft.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): MR. WANG, Hong Kong resident
"I'm very happy to see the C919 because it truly is a major national project, symbolizing the overall growth of our country's strength. This is the first time that the C919 has flown to Hong Kong and above the Victoria Harbor. I believe it adds greatly to the splendor of the Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): MR. CHAN, Hong Kong resident
"I saw the news about C919 visiting Hong Kong a few weeks ago, so I had been eagerly waiting for this day. This is a moment of glory for us Chinese people. It's truly remarkable. When I was a child, I saw oxen pulling carts; now, I see airplanes manufactured by our own country. It makes me feel so proud."
The C919, and another aircraft, ARJ21, arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
The C919 is China's first homegrown large jetliner. It has secured over 1,000 orders.
