People take to the newly restored 1938 Art Deco Lido for a Christmas Day Swim. Rough seas have prevented many from a refreashing dip in the sea, however the Saltdean Lido had over 250 swimmers pass through its gates this morning for a pre Christmas dinner swim. The Lido has been saved from development into flats by the Local Saltdean Community Group and with lottery funds and other grants and now offers all year round Al Fresco swimming as well as being a comunity hub, with a library, gym, and soon to open resturant. Built in 1938 it had been abandoned and closed to the public in recent yerrs until locals took it upon themselves to bring back the classic building and pool which has bonded the local community as it did when it first opened in 1938 but cvlosed in 1939 due to the start of world war II.
