STORYLINE:

Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Al Asoomi on Thursday urged Arab solidarity against Israel's plans to end the Palestinian cause, saying the killing, destruction and displacement by Israeli forces will not drive out the Palestinians.
   
Adel Al Asoomi spoke before a special session in the parliament to support Palestine and criticized the international silence and the failure of the UN Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution.
   
Rawhi Fattouh, speaker of the Palestinian National Council, said the Palestinian people will always defend their cause.
   
SOUNDBITE (Arabic): RAWHI FATTOUH, Speaker of the Palestinian National Council
"No rule over Gaza by tanks or by force of occupation or the U.S. Our people will stand against any regime that acts for the occupier. And we will consider any proxy regime as high treason."
   
The Arab Parliament praised the Arab countries' efforts to support Gaza and opposed the plans of forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
