STORYLINE:

The number of cleared commercial vehicles at the Horgos highway port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has exceeded 300,000 in 2023 as of December 30, statistics from the Horgos Customs showed.

The figure marks a 25 percent increase from the previous year.

The port has witnessed a surge in the export of complete vehicles since the beginning of 2023, with the highest daily export volume reaching 1,302 units. The exported vehicle brands include well-known domestic names such as BYD, Changan, Chery, Yutong, Zeekr, and others.

Over the years, the port has become a major channel for the export of Chinese-made automobiles to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

To facilitate the smooth and efficient export of commercial vehicles, the port has launched a 24-hour freight clearance mode on a trial basis, which allows the vehicles to pass through the port at any time of the day.

Horgos Customs has also set up a "green channel" for the export of commercial vehicles, which simplifies the on-site inspection and release procedures at the port to ensure efficient and smooth customs clearance.

The increased export of commercial vehicles comes as Chinese automotive companies are actively seeking innovation while expanding their overseas markets and enhancing their brand influence. New energy vehicles, in particular, have become a new growth point for exports, as they meet the increasing demand for green and low-carbon transportation in the global market.
