A Japan Airlines plane burst into flames when it landed at the Haneda International Airport in Tokyo on Tuesday evening, January 2.

JL516, flying from Sapporo (New Chitose Airport) to Tokyo, caught fire after hitting a Japan Coast Guard aircraft on the runway. All 379 crew and passengers of the JAL flight were evacuated safely. 5 of the 6 crew of the Coast Guard aircraft were confirmed dead.
