This is the bizarre moment an angry relative hurled bank notes from a balcony during a furious family row.

Footage shows the person, who was not identified as male or female, tossing huge chunks of CNY 100 (GBP 11) banknotes from their apartment in Guangdong, China.

A large part of the dumped cash landed on neighbouring balconies and the rest was scattered on the ground.

Several residents later confirmed to local media that the incident occurred near Jubao Road at around 5 pm on January 3.

One resident, who was not named, said: 'My friend lives in that community, and I don't know why they threw money.

'Later, the police came to deal with it, and I don't know if the money thrown was real.'

Officials from the street office and property management staff where the incident occurred stated that after the incident, police officers came to the scene, and the community arranged for people to visit the individual who threw the money to understand the situation.

Police stated that they had received a report of someone throwing money at the time and 'have already handled it'.

According to reports, the individual began throwing the money after they argued with their family and had an emotional meltdown.

Police sealed off the scene and joined well-meaning citizens who helped retrieve all the money.

They said: 'The money thrown was real, and it has all been recovered without any losses.'
