In a momentous achievement, the United Launch Alliance (ULA) has successfully launched its Vulcan VC2S rocket on its first certification mission.

The rocket took off from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, on January 8, 2024.

The Cert-1 mission aimed to deliver the Astrobotic Peregrine commercial lunar lander into a highly elliptical orbit over 220,000 miles above Earth. Additionally, the Vulcan VC2S carried a poignant payload, Celeste’s Memorial Spaceflight, destined for deep space.

This significant milestone marks a crucial step in certifying the Vulcan VC2S for future missions, showcasing ULA's capabilities in the competitive space launch industry.
