A Pakistani expert has said that the Chinese economic model offers a new way of interconnection among countries.
SOUNDBITE (English): ZOON AHMED KHAN, Research Fellow at the Center for China and Globalization
"I think the biggest takeaway is that a stable and growing China has created positive implications, in terms of global supply chains, in terms of access to emerging technology, in terms of access to new ideas.
I think it again strengthens the resolve of developing countries that started with dozens of them in the first phase signing up to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to continue that creative part of cooperation and domestic success.
The Chinese economic model today offers a large, vast majority of the world with new tools to think of connectivity and to move away from shifting towards the barrier of protectionism. We need less protectionism. We need practical open engagement.
We have seen connectivity, physical as well as in terms of platforms. So I think that trajectory of confidence in a new way of development of creating networks, physical and also political networks of cooperation."
