Morning fog hung over the Taal Volcano as a cold snap swept over the Philippines on Tuesday.

Video shows the thin mist blanketing the volcano as a local went on a boat ride in the nearby Taal Lake in Batangas province on January 16.

State seismological agency PHIVOLCS said in a January 16 bulletin that there were no volcanic earthquakes observed, while a 'weak emission' of gas plumes reaching up to 600 metres tall was recorded.

Last week, Taal Volcano emitted 10,993 metric tons of sulfur dioxide, triggering smog that affected six areas in the province.

Philippine weather agency PAGASA said chilly weather was prevailing over the country due to the northeast monsoo, adding the cold snap may last until February.
