This is the dramatic moment a toddler was rescued from a locked truck in Thailand.

The one-year-old boy accompanied his grandparents to the local clinic in Khon Kaen province on December 27.

His grandfather turned off the engine and left him alone in the front seat, but accidentally left the car keys inside the truck.

By the time the pensioner realised his mistake, the boy had already fiddled with the keys, pressing the buttons and inadvertently locking himself inside the vehicle.

A rescue team were called to the scene to save the youngster before he suffocated.

Footage shows the officers peering at the boy through the transparent windows and telling him to press the unlock button.

As he was too young to understand their instructions, they instead unlocked the door using the car latch mechanism.

Within five minutes, the crying child was reunited with his worried grandparents.

The grandfather said: 'I was taking my wife to the nearby clinic. I was walking her to the building when I realised the keys were still inside the truck.

'I'm relieved nothing bad happened while my grandson was alone inside.'

In August 2022, a schoolgirl suffocated to death when she was left locked inside a sweltering minivan in Chonburi, Thailand.

Khemmanit Tongyoo, 7, was trapped inside a minivan during amid a school field trip. She had nodded off and was left baking inside the vehicle for hours before bungling teachers discovered her lifeless body when they were about to go home.
