STORYLINE:
The railway departments of China and Vietnam have recently conducted joint maintenance on the China-Vietnam Railway Bridge to prepare for the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush and ensure the safety of the cross-border transportation.
The China-Vietnam Railway Bridge connects Hekou of China's Yunnan Province and Lao Cai of Vietnam, which is a cross-border railway bridge with a history of over 100 years.

"In order to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the China-Vietnam Railway Bridge, we coordinated with the Vietnamese railway department in advance and jointly conducted the maintenance project with high quality. China and Vietnam have made joint efforts to ensure the safe and smooth flow of Central Asian international freight trains."
The freight trains operate on the meter-gage railway line that connects Kaiyuan in Yunnan and Haiphong, Vietnam every day.
From December 2017 to Jan. 19, 2024, a total of 4,340 meter-gauge Central Asian international freight trains were launched between China's Kaiyuan and Vietnam's Haiphong, carrying 1,717,100 tons of cross-border goods.
