STORYLINE:

As China established diplomatic relations with Honduras in March 2023, a group of 26 Honduran students have come to China for further studies since July last year.

Among them, four are studying at a university in Xi'an City.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): VICTOR, Honduran student at Northwestern Polytechnical University
"My main goal in China is not easy, which is to build the best version of myself. The greatest advantage I have in China is that it is a country that cultivates highly trained talents. My biggest challenge is that my major is difficult for me. But I know that I am at a place where I can fulfill my dreams, and that is the most important thing for me so far."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): CRISTHIAN, Honduran student at Northwestern Polytechnical University
"My original major was design and animation, but when I came here and found this university excels in the field of engineering, I wanted to take on the challenge of doing something I had never done before. So in this way, I can develop myself in both areas."

Living in a city like Xi'an, which is renowned for its rich culture and history, the Hondurans have gradually gained a better understanding of Chinese culture.

SOUNDBITE 3 (Spanish): ISAAC, Honduran student at Northwestern Polytechnical University
"I have visited some places over the past five months. I visited the Terracotta Warriors, a famous historical site and one of the main attractions in Xi'an. I also visited the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. It's impressive. I like the city which combines history, culture, tradition with modernity."

SOUNDBITE 4 (Spanish): VICTOR, Honduran student at Northwestern Polytechnical University
"I think that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries offers a great opportunity. China and Honduras both have much to offer to each other. Therefore, the establishment of diplomatic relations is highly positive for us in education, industry, research, and etc. I want to say that I hope the relations between our two countries continue to prosper in the future."
