Hundreds of Buddhist monks walk along a bed of flower petals placed on a roadside in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

Just over 1,100 monks made the journey towards a temple walking on a red carpet of petals.

The flowers are grown many months in advance.

Buddhist Monks from Wat Thammakai, temple in Pathumthani, walk is single file on a red carpet that has been covered in a bed of flower petals, thousands of devoted followers line the streets to pray as the monks pass by. According the the temple brochure, there were 1,140 monks taking part. I have seen this procession of monks before a few years ago, its quite an amazing sight. Many months of preparation go into the event. At the temple they grows many thousands of flowers which are then harvested and the petals stored in plastic bags. This is also an amazing sight to see. Local volunteers come and help harvest the flowers in December and January.
