Residents of Pringle Bay were ordered to evacuate parts of the coastal village on Thursday as an ongoing wildfire posed a significant threat to homes in the area. The blaze, which has been burning since Monday, forced temporary evacuations earlier in the week and has now reignited, prompting further concern and action from authorities.

Overstrand municipal manager, Dean O'Neill, confirmed that aerial resources have been dispatched to support ground teams and crews battling the fire in Pringle Bay. The Hangklip Road fire, as it is known, continues to pose a risk to the community.

Tragically, the recently renovated Hangklip Hotel has already experienced significant damage, with two chalets, a cottage, and external bathrooms destroyed by the flames. O'Neill reported that approximately 800 hectares of vegetation have been consumed by the fire in Pringle Bay. In nearby Buffelsjag, another fire has ravaged about 7,500 hectares and remains uncontained.
