This is the emotional moment a son reunited with his mother after five years working abroad.

Elmar Van Baclay, 26, left home in 2019 to work as a factory worker in developed Taiwan and missed several holidays until his surprise homecoming in Cebu province, the Philippines on January 1.

Footage shows Elmar pulling his luggage and carrying a large bouquet of money while walking to the front yard of their rundown village home on New Year's Day.

Elmar was immediately recognized by his mum Marita, 56, who could not believe her eyes when she saw him. The elderly woman jumped, waved her hand, and hopped towards Elmar before they locked each other in an embrace.

Elmar said: ‘I was away for five years then I planned a surprise homecoming to see them. It was such an emotional moment for me.'
