Commercial Building Fire with Collapse, Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania

Updated Northumberland County Communications Center dispatched a working Commercial Building fire at Moser Sanitation, 450 South Market Street, Mount Carmel. Additional units from 4 counties were added to the box including 2 tanker task force assignments.
Upon Arrival Jack Williams Mount Carmel Borough Fire Chief announced that this would be a defensive only operation as the building was already fully involved. A collapse zone was established as multiple ladder pipe and deck guns were used to bring this fire under control.
Due to the fire load along with a known low water pressure in this section of town 2 Tanker Tasks Forces were dispatched bringing 20 tankers to the scene.
Chief Williams confirmed that 1 firefighter sustained minor injuries along with Engine 1 having its emergency light melted due to the intensity of the fire.
A State Police Fire Marshall has ruled this fire accidental in nature.
Fourteen tanker trucks, multiple ladder engines, portable hose lines and an excavator were utilized during the blaze to assist firefighters.
The property, which has been owned by Moser's Sanitation for many years, formerly served as Reiner's Lumber Company.
Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution until the fire could be brought under control.
Crews from Northumberland, Schuylkill, Montour and Columbia counties battled the blaze for over 11 hours including overhaul.
Just before 330 Mount. Armed Fire Department and surrounding units were alert to a reported working commercial building fire.

As units began to respond they were advised of multiple calls and units quickly confirmed a working fire from blocks out with flames visible.

Command arrived and found the building and its contents fully involved and began defensive operations to protect the near by houses.

Due to the fire load and units having low pressure tanker task force was requested along with an engine to pressurize the hydrant nearby.

Crews from Northumberland, Schuylkill, Montour and Columbia counties battled the blaze for over 11 hours including overhaul.

Reported lost in the blaze were several compactor trucks, an atv, boat, pick up trucks along with other items inside.
