This is the moment divers rescued a dolphin stuck in the shallows in Cornwall, England.

The stranded common dolphin was spotted paddling in an inlet in Portscatho and unable to return to the open sea on February 16.

Locals called the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team, which dispatched medics and rescuers to the scene.

The dolphin was found to be uninjured, and taken on a resident's boat to the mouth of the Percuil River, where it was released.

Dan Jarvis of the BDMLR said: 'It was not possible to refloat the dolphin safely in the inlet due to the nature of the geography, substrate, and tide. It was deemed most likely the dolphin had become disorientated in this location and therefore stranded.

'Luckily, a resident had his boat tender moored nearby and was happy to take the dolphin out to deeper water.

Following the release, the dolphin was observed circling in the channel until it disappeared from sight.
