Around twenty European citizens disrupted traffic on the Europe Bridge between Strasbourg and Kehl on Thursday afternoon in a protest against climate change. The activists, wearing vests with the inscriptions “Riposte Alimentaire” and “Letzte Generation”, took to the bridge for around thirty minutes, carrying banners with the message "Let's stop deadly global warming - together".

Organized by the A22 international network "Riposte Alimentaire" in France and "Letzte Generation" in Germany, the protest aimed to highlight the need for collective action to address climate change across national borders. The activists chose Strasbourg, the center of European institutions, to emphasize the disconnect between European policies and the desires of farmers and the population.

One of the key demands of the activists is the integration of food into the general social security system. Inspired by the Social Security of Food collective, the proposal includes providing a vital food card worth €150 per month to all residents, democratic selection of approved products, and financing through a system of contributions.

As the world grapples with the impacts of climate change, these activists are calling for innovative solutions to ensure universal, democratic, and sustainable food security.
