On February 24 afternoon, the Keegan's Wood neighborhood was struck by a devastating residential fire that left a detached garage and the attic of a home in flames. The Community Volunteer Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene and two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze.

Authorities have determined that the fire was deliberately set by a juvenile, who has now been referred to the Harris County Fire Marshal Youth Firesetters Intervention Program for further intervention and education.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the three adults and five children who have been displaced as a result of the fire. In face of this tragedy, the community has come together in gratitude for the mutual aid provided by the Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department, Northeast Fort Bend County Fire Department, Sugar Land Fire Department, and Fulshear Simonton Fire.
