With clear skies and a good forecast for seeing the aurora, I drove north along the remote, Dalton Highway in Alaska, looking to photograph the northern lights. There was a solar storm predicted for that evening, and just before 2:00am, the entire sky erupted in beautiful greens and pinks. The storm was short lived, only about 5 minutes, but the display was intense and beautiful. One of the best in more than a decade of aurora chasing.
