A mini dust devil tornado danced playfully across a car park on a sunny day.

Footage shows the raging column of wind and dust mixing ripping across the empty field beside the road in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand, on February 28.

The drivers watched from a nearby shed while cars passed by the nearby concrete path.

It lasted less than a minute and reduced its size upon hitting a concrete block.

Onlooker Nune Supisara said: 'It was mesmerising to watch. The wind was strong.'

Dust devil tornadoes are types of whirlwinds that form when the sun heats a patch of land and the air above becomes warmer and rises quickly.

Cooler air then moves into the low-pressure gap left by the rising warm air. The new drafts of cooler air also heat up and rise and the cycle continues, picking up dust and debris and making the spiral visible.

They are not as dangerous as supercell tornadoes, which can cause severe damage.
