A Brazilian tourist has spoken to the media in Dumka, Jharkhand, after her alleged gang rape sparked outrage in India.

The 28-year-old woman alleges she was raped by seven men whilst she was travelling the country on motorbike with her husband.

Police have said they've arrested four men and are still searching for another three.

The woman posted a video on her Instagram page which has 234,000 followers.

"Seven men raped me. They have beaten us and robbed us, although not many things [were taken] because what they wanted was to rape me," she said in Spanish, adding that the men beat them and threatened to kill them.

The couple had previously travelled 20,000km across India and their next destination was Nepal.

The woman said: "The people of India are nice. I don't blame the people, but I blame the criminals. The people of India have treated me very well, and were very kind to me."

Police have apprehended five more suspects in connection with the gang rape of a 28-year-old foreign tourist in the Dumka district of Jharkhand, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to eight. Three suspects involved in the incident were arrested and remanded in judicial custody on March 2, 2024. Five other suspects implicated in the case were apprehended today, on March 5, 2024," the police said in a statement. Meanwhile, the Spanish Embassy in India thanked the authorities for their support.

The Spanish Embassy posted on X, "Thank you all for your support. We need to stand united in our commitment to end violence against women everywhere in the world."

The 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand's Dumka district when she was spending the night in a tent along with her husband.

While leaving from Dumka for her next destination in Nepal , She said that she has no complaints against the people of India as she has safely travelled around 20,000 km across the country. Speaking to reporters before leaving for Nepal via Bihar along with her husband on their motorcycles, she said she would continue her world tour.

"People of India are nice. I don't blame the people, but I blame the criminals. People of India have treated me very well, and were very kind to me," she said.
