This is the heartwarming moment a boyfriend faked a basketball game injury to make a surprise proposal to his partner.

Mark R. Manio, 26, fell to the ground clutching his face while playing basketball to propose to his girlfriend, Bennet Gracie Banag, 25, in Malolos, Bulacan, the Philippines, on January 29.

Footage shows Mark lying on the ground, curled up in a ball while appearing to be hurt as his frantic teammates - who were in on the stunt - call for Bennet.

She then checked on her boyfriend, only to find him holding an engagement ring.

The romantic player knelt and asked her to marry him while his teammates held printed letters that said: 'Will you marry me?'

Without hesitation, Bennet said 'yes' and kissed her now-fiance.

Speaking after, Bennet said: 'I didn't have any idea that he would propose to me that night. We even fought before I returned from Coron, Palawan.'

The couple have been together since 2019. They first started dating when Mark asked her out at the same basketball court.

'If he tries to hold the wedding here I might hit him,' Bennet joked.
