This is the dramatic moment a tree fell onto a family's car in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows the large hardwood slamming into the front of the oncoming car as the father drove with his wife and baby in Phitsanulok province on March 11.

He stopped the car immediately while the baby started to cry out loud with fear.

They were not seriously hurt and the father called the police for help while trying to calm his wife. The video of the incident is being used to reclaim the repair costs through the insurance company.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
