Media were invited behind the curtain and literally under the stage as final preparations are made for the return of one of the world’s most loved musicals, West Side Story, to the Sydney Harbour stage, opening on Friday 22 March. In this electrifying, larger-than-life production of the smash-hit musical, a slice of New York’s urban jungle has been recreated in a stunning harbourside setting, with an incredible cast performing Leonard Bernstein’s famous tunes, Stephen Sondheim’s unforgettable lyrics and Jerome Robbins’ iconic choreography. This production premiered in 2019 to rapturous acclaim and remains the most successful Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour production. West Side Story opens Friday 22 March and runs through to Sunday 21 April, 2024.
