The night sky over Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada was illuminated with the afterburner flames of various aircraft as they took off for Red Flag-Nellis 24-2. The training exercise, which began on March 18, 2024, saw a fleet of KC-135 Stratotankers, F-35 Lightning IIs, F-16 Fighting Falcons, F-15E Strike Eagles, EA-18G Growlers, and B-52 Stratofortress’ launch into the darkness.

Red Flag is designed to enhance cooperation, collaboration, and interoperability among various branches of the military to better deter potential adversaries. The exercise allows pilots and aircrews to hone their skills in a simulated combat environment, preparing them for real-world scenarios.
