STORYLINE:

Markets and shopping malls across Bangladesh have been buzzing with shoppers as the Muslim festival Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the Islamic holy fasting month of Ramadan, is drawing near.

Stores are adorned with colorful lights, wooing shoppers to stay late in the markets.

Many temporary stalls also pop up in numerous markets, selling bangles, henna, cosmetics and other decorative accessories.

Readymade garment stores attract customers who are busy buying new clothes for the holiday.

Eid al-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals in Bangladesh, will be celebrated on or around April 11 based on the sighting of the new moon.

Muslims follow a lunar calendar and a moonlighting methodology that can lead to different countries declaring the start of Ramadan a day or two apart.
