Separately, both Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned on Tuesday (2 April) that the Israeli-attributed attack on Tehran's consulate in Syria a day earlier will not go unanswered. The assault, which took place in Damascus, left 13 people dead, including seven of its military advisers. Although Benjamin Netanyahu's government has not claimed responsibility for the attack, it highlights the risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. Fears have grown since the ongoing war in Gaza began.
