However, this spectacle is not a competitive sport but rather a performance of the traditional folk dance known as Two Devils Wrestling (二鬼摔跤). This unique form of entertainment involves one person carrying props on their back and executing coordinated movements to give the illusion of two spectral figures locked in combat. Despite its rich history spanning over a century, Two Devils Wrestling is now at risk of fading into obscurity. Recognizing its cultural significance, the government of Shangqiu City has declared Two Devils Wrestling as one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritage, aiming to preserve this cherished tradition for future generations.
