Trucker steps onto waterlogged motorway to catch fish from deluge
Catching fish may not have been the first thing on the mind of motorists travelling along this rain-flooded road.
But after torrential rains caused local rivers and lakes to flood, drivers found they could just help themselves to the fish as an unexpected bonus on the highway in Gao'an, in Jiangxi, China, on April 16.
The video shows a motorist navigating a flooded motorway with a truck inexplicably stopped in the water up ahead.
It did not appear that the water was high enough to force the truck to stop, and the mystery was explained when the door opened, and the truck driver leaps out.
Seconds later he pulls a huge fish out of the water and carries it back.
He had seen the fish flapping around in the shallow water and decided to grab himself a quick supper when the opportunity arose.
The owner of the car said: 'I guess that it probably weighed about seven to ten kilogrammes.'
However, there was also a lot of criticism of the local authorities for failing to maintain the drains to a standard where they could cope with the heavy downpour.
Environmental experts and city planners discussed how to improve city infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in the future.
