This is the moment a deadly cobra past a man's feet as he played with his phone.

CCTV footage shows Aphisak Namjaimun intently watching videos on his smartphone, unaware of the reptile approaching his feet at his home in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 16.

With the snake mere inches from him, Aphisak jolted from his seat and took a step back.

The serpent was seen slinking away under a table.

Aphisak said: 'I don't know what kind of snake it was. It might have been poisonous. I'm worried because there are children here at home who might be bitten.'

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
