Dubai floods force pedestrians to wade through water amidst transportation shutdown
On April 16, 2024, severe flooding struck Dubai, UAE, leading to extraordinary scenes of residents navigating submerged streets. Lianné Eirené captured a video depicting people wading through knee-deep water along a major highway, as the deluge disrupted public transportation and left many stranded. Faced with the choice of an uncertain overnight stay in a mall or braving the flooded roads, Eirené and others opted for the latter, risking potential dangers such as live wires and unseen road hazards. After nearly two hours on foot, a good Samaritan provided Eirené and fellow commuters a ride.
