A furious train passenger smashed a carriage glass window when he missed the departure and others would not let him onboard.

The man had a reportedly reserved seat but was being blocked from entering by passengers who were already crammed into the vehicle.

Footage shows the chaos that unfolded on the Kaifiyaat SF Express from New Delhi to Azamgarh with the man smashing the window as passengers inside screamed.

'There is no place inside, brother, it is cramped,' a man shouted before the angry passenger shattered the glass.

However, the furious passenger shouted 'make way' while smashing the glass during the incident, which is believed to have happened on April 18.

Bystanders inside the train can be heard urging the man to stop, as it appeared that someone outside was throwing stones at the glass.

Northern Railway said they had asked the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Delhi to investigate the incident. The RPF said they are coordinating the inspector in Ghaziabad.

India's railways and trains have become notorious for their chaos and overcrowding in recent years, due to the limited infrastructure unable to cope with the volume of passengers.
