A puppy cooled off in a fridge during a heat wave in the Philippines.

Footage shows the five-month-old Yorkshire Terrier pooch named Rocky resting inside the cold appliance on a hot 35 degrees Celsius day in Davao City on April 13.

Rock was called by his owner to come out but the dog refused to leave the comfortable spot.

Pet owner Elvie Jane Seguirra said in the video: ‘Hey Rocky, come out now please.'

A severe heat wave has gripped the Philippines, forcing thousands of schools nationwide, including in the densely populated Manila area, to suspend in-person classes due to the extreme temperatures.

The situation is critical, with half of the country's 82 provinces currently experiencing drought conditions, according to the United Nations. An additional 31 provinces are facing dry spells or abnormally dry conditions.
