Buenos Aires, Argentina - March 26, 2024

Argentina's GDP will fall by 3.3% this year, deepening the decline of 2023 and will be the country with the largest contraction in the world behind Saudi Arabia, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

"GDP is expected to contract by 3.3 per cent in 2024, before growing by 2.7 per cent in 2025?, the OECD said in its new outlook report released on Thursday. It noted that high inflation, the "considerable but necessary" fiscal adjustment of Javier Milei's government and political uncertainty will weigh on private consumption and investment for most of this year.

Chancellor Diana Mondino arrived in Paris today to accelerate Argentina's accession to the organisation, a process that began in the government of Mauricio Macri.
